We had a great conversation today about happiness. From the Camino, we have learned that happiness is being in the present… we have since been constantly reminded of the fact. Those around us are becoming more aware as well. And it is refreshing.
Being concerned about the future does no one any favours. It just makes us chase the wind, it makes us chase our shadows, it makes us want to chase bigger and what we think are “better” things that make us happy.
Being locked in the past did no one any favours either…. it makes us regret or wish we did things differently. It makes us yearn for days gone by.
The past and the future will make us miss out on today. Make us miss out on having fun, enjoying what is around us. All the “good” memories can continue to be made… we just need to allow it to.
Remember what we need to remember and forget the rest. Now that’s how to live!
Summary of April 1
Newbies
We went to dinner with one of David’s work colleagues and her partner. They live locally so we were overdue for a catch up.
Brighter/Different Perspective?
There is only so much we can ever do at any given time. It is healthy to just be able to let go and say “I’ve done enough for now!” Life is what we urgently need to do.. not work, not chores, nothing else that does not feed directly into us living!
They say that living in the present moment is the key to happiness! If only it were a little easier to remember to do!

Oh Melinda… but it can be an easy thing to do! We literally think about today …. We do what we have to do if we are preparing for something in the future but we don’t worry or think beyond what we need to. And when it comes to the past… it sounds bad but it’s almost like our memory is now terrible because really we only choose to remember what is worth remembering and can barely remember what we did or ate yesterday LOL 🙂
Living in the present moment really has worked wonders on our every day life 🙂
